UK Mobile Shopping

Recent research by EPiServer reported on Internet Retailing website shows that a third of UK consumers have made a purchase using a mobile website in the past 12 months.

In addition 26% did so using some kind of app.

Furthermore the study found:

• 59% of UK consumers now own a smart phone
• 18% own a tablet device
• 67% have used an ‘app’
• and 73% have accessed a website using these mobile devices in the past 12 months.

What is also interesting is the way consumers are using the mobile internet.

51% use it to look up directions, 47% to access social networks and 43% use the mobile web to find information about organisations and brands while on the move.

We have already seen that the mobile search trend is going through the roof.

From this latest research it also seems that in the UK mobile e-commerce is also on the rise at a significant rate.
